The Mooseman Modular collection for VCV Rack. It began with controllers — VCV's stock MIDI modules treat hardware as dumb CC sources, while Avalanche keeps hardware state and rack state in sync both directions, so a fader move changes CV and a preset change lights the LEDs. It has since grown a drum and voice family built from nothing but sine waves and noise, a set of effects, and sequencers that refuse to assume every step is the same length. Born on Linux, works everywhere.

Launchpad Mini MK3
A clip and scene launcher across the 8×8 grid. Buttons latch or gate; full RGB feedback via SysEx programmer mode shows what is armed and what is playing, turning the grid into a display.
Launchpad Mini MK3
An 8×8 drum sequencer in which every row keeps its own transport and its own length. Patch a row’s END back to its own START and it loops; patch it onward and it hands over to the next module, so polymeter is a cable rather than a menu.

A kick made of nothing but sine waves and noise. The faint snare buzz on a real kick is modelled as wires touching the head only while it is driven hard enough — so it starts late, breaks up and stops on its own, rather than being a noise layer with an envelope.

A snare whose resonators morph between the 808’s two oscillators an octave apart and a real membrane’s inharmonic modes. Electronic and acoustic are the two ends of one knob, not two modes.

A hi-hat built from six partials driven through a cymbal’s three nonlinear regimes — bell, subharmonic shimmer, then chaos — because that is genuinely what changes when you hit one harder. Closed and open share a voice, so closed chokes open.

Tuned metal: bar, plate, church bell and tubular bell on a single morph, with a strike position that silences any mode it lands a node on. At the tubular-bell end there is no partial at the tuned pitch at all — the note is supplied by your ear.

A bass for the space between the kicks. It has a floor it never goes below, and on every kick it steps further out of the way rather than ducking — so the note survives and only the collision goes.

A plate reverb whose resonant modes tune themselves to whatever you play into it. Hold latches the tank where it stands, and the shimmer feeds a pitch-shifted tail back through the plate.

A delay whose repeats are pulled toward a field of attractors instead of spaced evenly. Zoom the field and the rhythm fractures, while the taps stay locked to the clock.

A bitcrusher that rounds the corners of its steps rather than filtering them, so smoothing returns the signal instead of dulling it. Feed it an oscillator and the decimation locks to pitch.

A tempo-synced CV motion looper and multi-segment envelope. Sculpt points directly on the display, or touch-record a knob gesture in-line and let it loop against the clock.

A sequencer where you set how long the cycle is, how many steps fill it, and each step’s share of it. Quantize pulls the result onto the grid when you want it there, and lets it fall off when you don’t.

A gate repeater with both ends locked to the clock and a deliberately free middle, so you can ramp the stutter rate outside the tempo and still land on something musical. It restarts on every input gate, so the first repeat of each note is on the beat.
